Here's to 2008

I am oh so excited for tomorrow! This year might be the funnest New Year's Eve I have ever had! A few friends and I are going to a new hotel called Aloft. This hotel is outrageous. It is futuristic and has all kinds of crazy upgrades. Spa shower, iPod docks in the room, 42" tvs in every room. What more could a girl ask for? Maybe some hot guy to sweep me off my feet...ok kidding. So, included in the price we get a ticket to the party, dinner from a yummy Japanese place called Bushido, open bar with top shelf liquor, a midnight toast of champagne, a room for the night with checkout at 3pm, breakfast the next morning. Plus the party is DJ-ed by some famous DJ. I mean seriously...New Year's with my best buddies, and all of that?! It's going to be amazing! What's not going to be amazing is how bad my feet are going to hurt from wearing these heels I apparently think I can pull off. I'm soooo not a heel wearer. But I got a super cute dress with really fun jewelry and so of course I had to get really cute shoes. A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

One slight complication to my night...I have to work until close. The store closes at 7 and then I get to leave once the money is counted, etc. Man, I hope I can get there and dressed in time so I'm not rushing. I hate rushing. Like hate, hate, hate rushing. All's well that ends well though, right? And I do believe there is no way I won't be having fun tomorrow night!!

Happy New Year's to everyone! Hopefully we can all keep our New Year's resolution(s) and have an amazing New Year's.

Let Me Introduce You To My Love

Christmas at the house

This year my family decided to go all out with the Christmas decorations. My sister had a bonfire Christmas party for her friends where everyone got to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. I tried to include a picture of the wonderful Christmas lights that my dad hung and the decorations my mom put up. Christmas lights apparently aren't very photogenic. :-/ Christmas time is by far my favorite time of year. Everyone seems to be in a cheery mood and lots of time is spent with those you care about. Christmas music, my favorite. Smell of Christmas trees, my favorite. Charleston Christmas weather, my favorite. This week it has been in the high 70s and low 80s. Near record temperatures! What is there to complain about? Nothing, really. The bonfire my sister had was a hit. There seemed to be 50 people there. Oh, and did that not take me back 8 years ago, when I was her age. Woah... Thank you God, that I am no longer that age. And please Lord tell me I never acted like them! I swear, look to my left...I see one couple making out. Look to my right...I see another couple looking into each other's eyes and talking of their future together! They're 16! What future do you have at 16?! Made me want to vomit! Needless to say though, the party was a good time.

So, what did I ask Santa for? Well...the nerd in me asked for an external DVD burner for my mac and a new pair of Wallabies. Oh how I miss the days of not being able to fall asleep on Christmas Eve for hopes of hearing Santa when he came to deliver my gifts. The suspense used to kill me! I'd wake up at 3am and attempt to wake my parents. They'd make me go back to bed but I would try again at 4. 4am usually worked!

Follow The Leader

After following a fellow Charlestonian at 3 Bedroom Bungalow I figured I'd follow the leader and start my own blog. So to introduce myself, my name is Brittiany (yes, spelled very weird, I know!). I'm 24, in nursing school, and am a self-proclaimed geek. You wouldn't know it at first but really, I am. I live in Johns Island, South Carolina...the second most beautiful city EVER! I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and that is the most beautiful city in the WORLD! I have no children but 3 dogs (well 2 are mine). Lady Eleanore is my baby, she is a Welsh Terrier and has the funniest personality of any living being. Maddox, my Boston Terrier, is the sweetest boy I will ever meet. Lina (short for Carolina-Go Gamecocks!) is a Miniature Schnauzer and is the prim and proper lady of the crew. Hmmm let's see, I am what some could consider a lifer. I have spent many, many years in school and am constantly searching for the light at the end of the tunnel. It shall come one day, I guess ;-/. My sense of humor is very dry and at times I find my jokes funnier than everyone else, but I still think most consider me a funny person. Back to my nerdiness...I spend much of my day either on my mac or iPhone. Hi my name is Brittiany. I am addicted to electronics and internet. Okay I admitted it, first step right? December of 2006 I was converted. Yes, converted. I am now an Apple fiend and my religion is Steve Jobs-ism. Kidding, it's not really my religion but Steve Jobs-ism really could be considered a cult leader! Another quirk about me, I love love love love love love kids! L-O-V-E them! I, myself want to have a football team. Yes, I would love to have all boys. One day. Not now. You see, there are just about zero boys in my family. I gotta make up for lost time. Well, that's my theory atleast. Maybe once I become a nurse and start working, the feeling I have for the need for many many children will subside. I want to work in a Pediatric Emergency Room or as a Labor and Delivery nurse. (Still looking for the light at the end...)

I am a big family person...big big big! My mother and sister are my best friends. My father is the hardest worker and best person I have ever known. They are great people, really. I am really close with my aunt. She's almost 2 years older than me but still my aunt. Pretty weird, I know. I'm also really close with one of my cousins. The majority of my mom's side is red-headed. I didn't get the gene. The majority of my mom's side is tall. Didn't get that gene either. Majority of my mom's side also has blue or green eyes. Yep, didn't get that gene either. So, yes, I am a short brunette with brown eyes. Plain. Very plain.

Some other quirks about me...I wear my heart on my sleeve and am very emotional at times. I am willing to do almost anything for anyone, especially those I care a lot about. But, my feelings get hurt a lot. Part of life, I guess. I also love fun quotes. My favorite quote ever is "Be The Change You Wish To See In The World". It's by Ghandi. I'd like to think that I can make some type of change in the world...even if it's just little. Also, I like to recycle. I'm all about going green. I'm trying. It's pretty difficult and expensive but i'm trying. Music is a huge part of my day as well. I listen to music A LOT and like it loud. My ma always turns it down when she is in the car with me. But you can't deny good music, ya know? I'll introduce you to my favorite musician one day. You'll fall in love too, I know it. :)
